Mexico has a rich and ancient tradition of pottery. Archaeological finds dating back thousands of years have inspired potters to create modern Mexican ceramics which are very similar in form and ornamentation to those created by ancient craftsmen. For example, pottery style of the city of Oaxaca is very peculiar, and has a tradition of its own. The main feature that distinguishes the ceramics of Talavera is produced in two firings. First piece is covered with tin glaze and fired the second shot is done with a lead glass.
Casas Grandes pottery Mexican Paquimé developed in the northern part of Mexico about a thousand years ago. This style of pottery is relatively unsophisticated and is admired more for their utility Extermal her beauty. Casas Grandes designs based on patterns of leaves, birds and other natural objects have undergone drastic changes over the centuries. These pots are made using traditional technique rolling or even dismissal is made by traditional pit instead of firing in the kilns. The ceramics are then painted with bright and highly polished. Style Mata Ortiz became popular in the 1970s and the market for these ceramics has taken off. Hundreds of craftsmen in the region have raised these ancient pottery making methods to create exhibits in museums around the world.
